Growing up, a lot of us probably wanted to be an actor at some point. Fame, fortune, glamorous outfits and invites to all of the coolest parties. Your day job involves running around pretending to be someone else and you get to be trained in whatever your character knows. You can be paid to learn jujitsu, horseback riding, or even how to waltz. You might even get to kiss Brad Pitt (or Scarlet Johannsson if that’s your preference)! It turns out, however, that being a famous actor is not all award ceremonies and swag bags. Meet 55 actors who have found themselves changed by their most famous roles, and not for the better.
Ashton Kutcher: Jobs
Playing one of the most visionary businessmen of the 20th Century was a pretty impressive role to land for “That 70s Show” actor Ashton Kutcher. When he was cast as the mind behind the global brand Apple, Kutcher made the decision to commit to getting inside the head of his character.
He decided that this meant going on a complete fruitarian diet, just like that of Steve Jobs himself. It turns out that his commitment to the role didn’t do his body any good at all. He ended up in hospital two days before filming started with vitamin deficiencies and reduced bone density.
