#26: The Spanish Inquisition
I don’t want to give away my secrets here, but I trust you guys, so I’ll tell you why I love this particular genre of weird fact. It uses the human life span as a tool to demonstrate how closely connected we are to historical events that we usually think are very far away from us.
However, at the risk of letting out one secret too many, I’ll confide in you that whoever provided this particular fact was trying to deceive me. Even if all of these people met each other in the first year and hundredth year of their lives, we’d still only make it back to 1724 – over 200 years after the Inquisition.
