Duke Snider – 1949 Bowman
Edwin “Duke” Snider was a beloved Centerfielder for the Dodgers, both in Brooklyn and in Los Angeles. His final years were with the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants. Making his debut in 1947, Duke was second in popularity only to Jackie Robinson. He had a career of 407 home runs and 1,333 runs batted in.
“The Silver Fox,” as he was also known, made eight All-Star appearances, was ML Player of the Year, won two World Series championships and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1980. This 1949 Bowman sold for $232,750 in 2016! That enough to make anyone a Duke.
