Joe DiMaggio – 1938 Goudie #274
You can probably tell that this card is different, but any fan of the Yankees will recognize Joe DiMaggio’s face right away. “Joltin’ Joe” entered professional baseball with the New York Yankees in 1936 and stayed with them his entire 13-year career. The Yankee Centerfielder was a three-time MVP, had two Batting Titles, was 1939 ML Player of the Year, was on 9 World Series championship teams, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1955.
Many of DiMaggio’s cards will fetch a pretty price tag. This caricature of DiMaggio with illustrations in the background is quite interesting and is valued at $200,000. Another version exists without the added illustrations in the background, but that one is only worth $115,000.
