Book Peddler
Maybe you’ve met a modern-day door-to-door salesman, but back in the 19th century, this was a far more common sales tactic. Some booksellers, rather than creating a brick-and-mortar business, traveled from door to door trying to sell books, often carrying with them samples and suave sales tactics.
Though not as popular, some companies still employ this sales tactic. However, people these days certainly respond to cold-calls as positively as they once did, so the profession is far less prevalent in modern day.
