Lungs
You might think lungs are just an organ in the body, but once upon a time, this was also the name of a profession. From the 14th to the 16th century, alchemist shops sold manual lungs, used for fanning fire.
These works of art were beautiful, intricate, and often in very high demand. People were assigned to use these “lungs” to fan the fire during procedures executed in the alchemist shops, which often resulted in these workers suffering from blackened lungs.
