Suzanne Somers then
Today, Suzanne Somers is most widely known as a fitness guru, but she started her way in the entertainment industry as an actress. From the late sixties to the early seventies she played mostly minor roles in film and TV. In 1977 she received her breakthrough role when she was cast in the ABC sitcom Three’s Company. Despite playing the part of the stereotypical dumb blonde, Somers was an audience favorite.
During the early nineties, Somers was also known as the spokeswomen for the notorious Thighmaster – which made her, in large part, the person who shaped the culture of infomercials. So much so, that in 2014 Somers was inducted into the infomercial Hall of Fame (we didn’t know that was a thing, either).
