Just A Regular City: Frankfurt
Before being incorporated into what was then the state of Prussia in 1866, Frankfurt, Germany existed independently as a city-state for approximately 500 years. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that the city has a rich and fascinating history, including the fact that it played a significant role in the Holy Roman Empire.
It is unfortunate that it appears that some tourists are very dissatisfied after learning that, at the end of the day, the city is just like any other city, with some areas being much older and others being very modern. Because it is a global business center, there isn’t really all that much regular sightseeing to be found here, which is unfortunate if that’s what you’re looking for.
