The demand for a second referendum in London
More than half a million people took to the streets of central London in the spring of 2019 to demand a second referendum on Brexit. By raising a huge banner showing a tweet David Davis had sent previously, protesters poked fun at the former Cabinet minister. The banner reads, “If a democracy cannot alter its mind, it is no longer a democracy.”
Demonstrators yelled because they thought the former minister’s current statements and opinions were in conflict with his previous declarations and positions.
