2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami
If you’re too young to remember, back in 2004, underwater seismic activity caused tremendous tremors, creating up to 100-foot tsunamis by the time they reached land. The Indian Ocean Tsunami destroyed places in 14 countries, but Aceh, Indonesia, experienced the highest death toll.
The Indian Ocean Tsunami was the third-largest to ever have been documented in the entire history of man. Some people were aware of the receding shoreline and made a beeline for higher ground. Unfortunately, that wasn’t enough, and countless people lost their homes and loved ones. Thankfully, the entire world rallied to provide humanitarian aid to those who were affected by it.
