Quotes vs. Citations
Here’s something every student needs to know how to do: cite their sources. Citing is paraphrasing an idea that you got from someone else while directing the reader to the source material. You’ll typically find the cited materials in the bibliography section of an academic paper. This is pretty much the first lesson of academic writing.
However, this person felt that adding a direct quote from the source material was enough, as if a panelist of reviewers would know where the quote came from. Guess what? If you quote someone in your text, you also have to cite the source, genius.
