To stand or not to stand
Recently, there has been quite a bit of controversy about standing up while reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. I’ll tell you the story of how serious some people take standing up for the flag. In high school, my woodworking teacher got into a verbal argument with a student because she didn’t stand up for the weekly recitation of the allegiance.
However, there’s no law that requires anyone, students or otherwise, to stand up and recite the pledge. This is especially true for non-citizens, though you might receive the stink eye from super patriots. Should you stand for the flag during the pledge? Whether you’re a citizen or not, you can do whatever you feel like. It’s a free country, man.
