#13: John Amos as Nick Evans
Nick Evans, Florida’s husband, appeared briefly before Good Times spun off from Maude. John Amos portrayed him with strength, compassion, and quiet authority, giving depth to Florida’s home life and showing a rare, loving depiction of a Black married couple on 1970s television.
Although his appearances were limited, Nick’s presence helped lay the foundation for the Good Times universe. Amos brought sincerity and pride to the role, hinting at the fully realized character he would later develop as James Evans Sr., one of TV’s most enduring father figures.
