Lighting A Scene For Vikings
Peter Bigelow lifts the curtain and teaches us how he lightened a few publicity pictures using natural light. Even though it is broad daylight, the natural light alone isn’t sufficient to dramatically illuminate this actor’s face to make it pop on camera. As you can see, they require an additional key light, which most likely includes a flash.
Bigelow was hesitant to leave the house in light of the rain, but he eventually “manned up” and filmed anyway. “Once we got here, we decided there wasn’t much chance of capturing a clearing in the rain,” he continued. Despite this, it was a unanimous conclusion that since we’re all not composed of sugar (contrary to popular belief), we’d manage to keep ourselves dry. After all, what real Vikings would abandon their posts due to a little rain?
