Sardinia wedding
A wedding in Sardinia is a sacred event; it is a big celebration, as well as an important religious event. At the end of the ceremony, after exchanging rings, the couple’s hands are tied in a chain, as can be seen in the photo below (this reminds us of the Handfasting ritual). The chain, which consists of over 60 silver rings, is a symbol of everlasting faith and commitment.
The wedding outfits are inspired by cultures from all around the Mediterranean and surrounding countries; the bride and groom’s outfits are ornamented with jewels, they include jackets, and the bride wears a white veil. You’ve probably heard of Ziti, but did you know it is a kind of pasta unique to this island, and it is a main dish at any Sardinia wedding?
