Traditional Wedding Dresses From Around the World

July 14, 2017 by Lisa Turner

Bride and groom in Bhutan

Bhutan is a country located in South Asia that sees a great number of tourists every year. One of the main attractions for tourists, apart from the rich culture and breathtaking views of the country, are the Bhutanese weddings, which often occur in a public place, and are a real spectacle for locals and tourists alike.

Bhutanese weddings aren’t just a happy union between a man and a woman, but one can learn about the Bhutanese culture by attending a traditional wedding ceremony. During the ceremony, a religious monk performs a number of religious rites. The wedding attire, as can be seen in the picture above, is colorful and quite intricate; the groom wears a traditional outfit called ‘gho’, and the bride wears a ‘kira’.
