#5: Parenting Differences
Hold up, let me get this straight. In Sweden, new parents get 480 days of paid leave and 80% of their normal wages, while in the US, new parents get zero days of paid leave and zero dollars of their wages during any time off. It’s like the US is stuck in the Stone Age when it comes to workers’ rights, while other countries are living in a workers’ paradise.
I mean, sure, the US may be the richest country on earth, but what good is all that money if it’s not being used to support and care for its citizens? We need to start valuing families and supporting new parents, not punishing them for wanting to spend time with their newborns.
