#23: Manchester City
Rich Gulf businessmen buying European soccer teams seem to be doing good things for the sport, with large investments bringing in star players and corporate sponsors, increasing the value of multiple teams. The purchase of the Premier League team, Manchester City, by members of the Abu Dhabi royal family is just another such example.
I know we like to dismiss soccer as the less serious sport, designated for preppy English school boys with their fancy accents and delicate frames, but I have to admit, after watching a few games, the “footballers” of the Premier League are just as talented as our footballers. Who knows, in a few years, I might just be a City supporter.
