#37: The Investigation Was Reopened In 2011 After New Testimony Emerged
Thirty years after her death, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department reopened the case. Dennis Davern, the yacht’s captain, publicly stated that he had lied during the original investigation. He claimed Wagner’s behavior that night had been suspicious and that he believed an argument between the couple had led to her death.

The new inquiry drew widespread attention, reigniting debate about what really happened. Detectives reexamined physical evidence, interviewed witnesses, and reviewed previously overlooked reports. Though no charges were filed, Wagner was officially named a “person of interest,” keeping public curiosity and speculation alive decades after the tragedy.
