#16: Carmen Basilio
Basilio was known for his relentless aggression and iron chin. He lacked finesse but made up for it with pure grit, charging through punishment to break opponents down. He thrived in bloody wars, often pushing past pain and exhaustion. Basilio’s relentless spirit made him one of boxing’s ultimate warriors.

In 1957, Basilio faced the great Sugar Ray Robinson for the middleweight title. Despite Robinson’s sharp counters opening cuts and swelling Basilio’s face, he never slowed down, constantly pressing forward. He won a split decision in a brutal 15-round battle, proving his legendary toughness against one of boxing’s finest technicians.
