#21: Mocking a Disabled Caller—Over and Over Again
One of the most controversial recurring bits on The Howard Stern Show involved frequent mockery of a disabled caller known as “Wendy the Slow Adult.” While some listeners saw it as inclusion through humor, many others viewed it as blatant exploitation.

Stern and his staff often used baby voices, sound effects, and jokes at her expense, pushing the boundaries of what was considered acceptable—even in the world of shock radio. Critics and advocacy groups slammed the segment, but Stern never apologized, standing by it as part of his “equal-opportunity offensive” brand.
