#10: Peace Plan Struggles As Violence Escalates
President Gustavo Petro’s “Total Peace” plan aimed to negotiate with armed groups, but attacks have increased instead. Ceasefires have fallen apart, and rebel factions are once again targeting soldiers, police, and civilians. Many Colombians now question whether peace can truly be reached through dialogue alone.

Critics say the government underestimated how fragmented the armed groups have become. Each region has its own alliances and rivalries, making talks almost impossible to manage. While the plan’s goal was unity, it has exposed how divided and unpredictable Colombia’s armed landscape still is.
