#31: Royal Weddings Are Not Automatically Public Holidays
Although royal weddings are celebrated nationwide, they are not automatically designated public holidays. Parliament must approve such a move, as happened for Prince William and Kate Middleton’s wedding in 2011. Other ceremonies, however, have been held without official time off, demonstrating that not all royal events disrupt daily life.

This fact surprises many, given the widespread coverage of royal weddings. The decision often depends on anticipated public interest, political considerations, and economic impact. It reflects how monarchy operates in partnership with government, where symbolism, tradition, and practicality must balance to determine the scale of public celebration.
