It certainly doesn’t hurt to have a healthy dose of self-assurance, does it? To begin, having confidence in yourself and your abilities is a wonderful trait to have if it turns out that you were right about the things you had it placed on. In the event that I’m mistaken, then not even close to as much. Having said that, there are some individuals who are so self-assured in their false knowledge that it appears to be able to impress us a little bit despite the fact that it is incorrect. People like this can be found on the internet, and despite the fact that they are completely mistaken in their beliefs, they are convinced beyond all reason that they are correct.
Don’t Debate Experts
Someone who has the self-assurance to argue with an expert also has a certain level of extreme stupidity, which is something that goes hand in hand with that self-assurance. Arguing with someone who has first-hand experience with the subject of your disagreement is even more frustrating than arguing with an expert on the subject.
It would be analogous to trying to convince Buzz Aldrin that he was wrong about some aspect of the Apollo 11 mission to the moon, which he was leading at the time. Who among us would have the audacity and the reckless self-assurance to attempt to do something like that? Those are two qualities that go hand in hand.
