#14: Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 (2019)
Minutes after takeoff from Addis Ababa, another Boeing 737 MAX experienced the same control problem seen in the Lion Air crash. Despite the crew’s efforts, the plane nosedived and slammed into the ground at high speed. All 157 passengers and crew were killed in the disaster.
The second tragedy in less than five months forced regulators to act. Within days, the Boeing 737 MAX was grounded worldwide, sparking one of the biggest corporate crises in aviation history. Boeing’s reputation was severely damaged, and airlines demanded sweeping changes before the jet was cleared to fly again.
