#16: A Leaf Skeleton
It took us a couple of minutes to understand what we were looking at. Looking closer at the photo, you’ll notice the little sawflies eating their way through the bottlebrush leaf. At first glance, we thought they were a part of the leaf, but the diet of those small insects consists of leaves.

As they snack their way through the leaf quickly and surprisingly symmetrically, all that’s left behind is the skeleton, which reveals the intricate architecture of the leaf. What strikes us most about the photo (well, after the meticulous job of the sawflies) is the skeleton of the tender leaf, which seems like it’s made of gold.
