Often, we say one thing and mean another. We don’t always want people to take our words literally, whether we’re joking, exaggerating, or just talking nonsense. In other cases, however, we need to be specific with our requests or instructions, otherwise, people might misinterpret them. Sometimes, you don’t want to leave room for interpretation. Apparently, there’s a fine line between following instructions and taking things too seriously and too literally. Some people need to learn how to take a step back, keep an open mind, and read between the lines. That’s exactly what the people in the photos below did–they took things as literally as they possible could, with some pretty amusing results. Read on to see just how literal things can get.
Only Ketchup
This poor guy just wanted a regular McDouble with ketchup on it, without the other toppings and condiments – that’s clearly what he meant by “only ketchup.” But the employee at McDonald’s decided to take his order of “only ketchup” way too literally. Now, he’s stuck eating just a bun with a splat of ketchup on it.
Let’s hope this dude went back through the drive-thru and got his order fixed and his money’s worth–and that he realized the mistake before he got all the way home! Is there anything worse than tearing into a bag of fast food with a gurgling stomach, only to realize they messed up your order?
