Soda Jerk
A highly sought-after job in the 20th century, the position of a soda jerk included handling soda fountains, serving ice cream, and taking people’s drink orders in a small shop. This was a popular job among young people in particular.
Soda Jerks usually wore the iconic uniform of a bow tie and a paper hat while they worked serving the masses. Eventually, though, this job faded as these small-time soda shops were quickly overtaken by the rapidly expanding fast food business.
