Word Art
Do you have a Live, Laugh, Love sign in your house? Or perhaps you are that person with a sign that says “Kitchen” placed in… your kitchen? Yikes. We know it’s the kitchen! You don’t need to remind us. What is the point? Seriously please, What. Is. The. Point.
I digress. Simply put, the word art is neither sophisticated nor is it attractive. It is unnecessary and you should definitely opt for some artwork instead. How about some of those beautiful shots of scenery you took on your honeymoon to Greece? Literally, anything is better than word art. Step away from the word art. Now.
Open Shelves Gone Wrong
Like everything in interior design, you need to know what you’re doing in order for it to look great. If you have opted for open shelves, then you are in for a particularly challenging hanging experience. Those shelves need to be evenly spaced, not slanted and decorated thoughtfully.
If your shelving slants or if you’ve done two rows of open shelving and they are not exactly spaced together- then it’s going to be the only thing you or your guests see when walking into your house. These tend to be cheaper shelving options, so if you can’t hang them yourself properly, please- pay a professional to do it for you.
