Boxing only became a legal sport in the 20th century. In fact, it was Las Vegas that made boxing into a legal sport as well as an entertainment industry as we know it today.
You see, before 1940 there were no major stadiums for boxing matches and people would have to crowd around TV screens just to watch a fight. Nowadays, there have even been pay-per-view fights that people can watch in their own homes.
Even so, boxing wasn’t really a sport until the 1970s when they started allowing women to participate in the sport and it became more of an entertainment industry than before.
That’s right people began to think about how entertaining and well-matched the fights were as opposed to whether or not they were fair.
Soon, the sport of boxing became more like a movie with good guys and bad guys and it turned into a form of entertainment. Now you can go see boxing matches almost anywhere in the world today and most people will enjoy them!
Why is boxing a hard sport?
Boxing is a hard sport because it is scored for how many hits you can score on your opponent rather than how long the match goes.
What does this mean? Well, most people who win boxing matches score more falls than their opponents within three rounds whereas most people would say that the winner of most wrestling matches would be determined by who participates the longest.
This is a major difference between boxing and most other sports. However, this is not the only way that it goes against what we consider “normal.”
Another thing to note about the sport of boxing is that there are no equivalent matches. For example, if there were two fighters who had never fought before they would both fight at the same weight for their first match.
However, later on, they could have vastly different weights which wouldn’t be fair at all. That is why if one fighter gets bigger over time it is not considered an advantage or disadvantage to that person.
What are the advantages of boxing?
Some advantages of boxing include that you only need your body to play. You don’t need anything but, boxing gloves to play which can be bought for any price at your local sports store.
Another advantage of the sport of boxing is that you only need one opponent to play, unlike many other sports like basketball or tennis where you may have six people on each side participating in the same game at once making it much harder for one person to stand out.
Instead, the only person you need to beat in boxing is your opponent which makes it somewhat of an individual sport as opposed to team sports where you may need several people on your team to win or lose.
This is definitely a good thing if you are looking for something more personal than team sports! If you want to learn more about the sport or just boxing in general, then you can do that too.
So now that you know a little bit more about how boxing became a sport, why not take your friends and your family to see a match this weekend? You can bet that they won’t be disappointed!
