Grain Hack
The other day I attempted to make wild rice, only to find myself standing over my stove, deep in frustration because my rice would not, for the love of anything, cook properly. I ended up cooking it for around two hours, after adding a good amount of extra water.
Pre-soaking your grains can save you serious headaches when trying to prepare dishes like rice and others. In general, you need to rinse your rice before you cook it since it has grown in the ground, but soaking it will help it to cook more quickly. Bonus: soaking rice also helps to get rid of some of the excess starch as well.
