#22: We All Have Issues
The good old sob story is a classic attempt to guilt someone into giving you a discount. We’ve all been there, whether it’s the person in line at the grocery store who can’t afford that extra item or the friend who suddenly remembers they’re going through a tough time when the bill arrives at dinner.

However, using a sob story to get a discount is just silly. Sure, empathy is powerful, but it shouldn’t be used as a bargaining chip. And when it comes to buying people’s artwork, you should always pay full price and not expect handouts. Art is legitimate and is often people’s livelihood.
