Helen Mirren
Award-winning actress Helen Mirren grew up in London, and according to her, they had no television in their house, and they never visited the cinema. Thus, the first time young Helen discovered acting was when she watched an amateur production of Hamlet. When the first production you watch is Shakespeare, it’s bound to leave an impression, and for Mirren, this amateur play is what got her passionate about the world of acting and make-believe.
Although she was attracted to acting, Helen’s parents didn’t support this passion; rather, they believed she should have a more stable profession. That why she was sent to a catholic school. However, at the school, she was encouraged by a teacher to pursue acting, and finally, at the age of eighteen, she was able to enter this world when she joined the National Youth Theatre.
