Light ‘em Up
Drinking wasn’t the only vice on the set of Bewitched. Many of the cast and crew members smoked cigarettes on and off the set. Elizabeth Mongtgomery was known to be a chain smoker, so undoubtedly would light up between takes. Richard York also smoked multiple packs a day. Sounds like a smoke-filled set.
Even when children were on set, the smoking continued. After all, this was the 60s. Erin Murphy, then a child actress who played Tabitha, was later quoted in an interview saying, “I remember my parents were always saying ‘smoking is bad, smoking is bad,’ and I remember thinking ‘If smoking is bad, then why is everybody around here doing it?’”
