We Interrupt this Viewing
Tragic news interrupted a screening of Bewitched on April 4, 1968. It was the day that Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. In the middle of such a lighthearted and silly show, the announcement of the horrific tragedy shocked viewers. Though it didn’t match the tone or intention of the show, the news was too big and important not to tell it.

The show did not have the best luck when it came to tragedies. The first day of rehearsal for Bewitched fell on November 22, 1963, the day that President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. We already learned of a few more incidents that followed the cast and crew as well, even after the show’s eight seasons ran.
