A Different Witch
It’s crazy to think that the lead role on Bewitched almost went to someone else. The role of Samantha was almost called Cassandra, and almost played by a different actress named Tammy Grimes. Sol Saks wanted Grimes to be their lead witch, but in the end, both he and William Asher chose Elizabeth Montgomery.
Whenever an actor or actress creates a character, it’s almost blasphemous to imagine giving that role to another. While Grimes could have done a great job with it, it’s just not right to have anyone other than Elizabeth Montgomery as Samantha. Though with all the actor replacements on the show, it’s not the most outlandish idea.
