Naming Jonathan
The story of how Larry and Louise Tate’s son got his name is a touching one. Those two characters had a son named Jonathan, but little known is how his name was chosen. David White, the actor who played Larry Tate, requested the name after his own son’s name, and it was granted by the creators and writers.
David White wanted his son’s name on screen to be the same as his real life son, whom he raised single handedly after his wife sadly passed away due to complications with a second pregnancy. This small change to the Tate family added a special personalization to Larry White’s character.
