#4: Abigail Adams, Wife of President John Adams
Abigail Adams was largely self-taught but widely read, writing sharp, insightful letters to her husband during the nation’s founding. She argued for women’s rights and education at a time when few women spoke publicly about politics. Her words remain some of the most thoughtful commentaries from the Revolutionary era.

Her intellect helped shape the thinking of one of America’s earliest presidents and gave voice to women’s issues long before they were widely accepted. By urging her husband to “remember the ladies,” she planted seeds for gender equality and showed how women could shape the nation’s ideals.
