No time to boil water!
One common kitchen appliance that you won’t find in many American households is an electric kettle. So, when we need boiling water immediately, we don’t rely on stovetop kettles. We just pop a cup of tap water into the microwave and blast it on high heat. We usually end up having to microwave it more than once since we forget about it entirely.
Microwaves are a lot more common, and they’re super-versatile tools. Don’t fall for the “microwaves destroy all nutrients in food” mumbo jumbo. The fact of the matter is that heating food, regardless of which appliance or tool you use, breaks down nutrients to a certain extent.
