A Look at the Dark and Mysterious Side of Mexico

In some rural parts of Mexico, a practice known as bride kidnapping still occurs despite being illegal. Men abduct young girls and force them into marriage, sometimes with family approval. These girls are often teenagers—or younger—and are left with little choice but to accept a life they didn’t choose.

The practice is rooted in old traditions and poverty, where families may see it as a way to secure a future for their daughters. Activists are fighting to end it, arguing that it violates human rights and robs girls of education, safety, and independence.
